Do’s and Don’ts: Job Searching for International Students

The best way to learn about job searching as an international student is to hear from those who have already navigated the process. A person’s firsthand insights can provide valuable tips and guidance on how to land an opportunity.

Handshake hosted an online event where Anson Tan, former Deloitte intern and President of the University of San Francisco International Student Association, joined Kelly O’Sullivan, Senior Talent Acquisition Associate at AlphaSights. Together, they shared essential “dos and don’ts” for international students seeking jobs.

During the event, Anson and Kelly discussed several topics, including:

  • How to identify employers that hire international students
  • Key factors to consider when job searching as an international student (e.g. special deadlines, visa sponsorship, etc.)
  • How to make your application stand out

Want to learn more from Anson’s personal experiences and Kelly’s helpful employer insight? Read the article “Dos and don’ts” for international student job seekers, on the Handshake Blog, and watch the attached webinar for more information on the “do’s and don’ts” of the international students’ job search.
