Massachusetts Senior Games Internship
This internship is a hybrid and flexible position which comprises interns’ choices of tasks for assisting in organizing & running Olympic style tournaments for older adults, and/or for marketing and sponsorship undertakings for said tournaments. It will involve 8-10 flexible hours/week (although more or less can be easily negotiated), weekly supervisory meetings (that count towards the internship hours), a midterm and a final assessment.
Basic verbal, written and computer technology skills are required. Learning and/or improving marketing, sponsorship and people-skills through the internship is expected. Freshmen through seniors are welcome. It is encouraged that there be two interns to do some of the work together and some separately. This would offer additional support and increase the fun.
At the start of the internship, the intern(s) will meet with Joanie Simmons (major supervisor) and Davis Cox (assistant supervisor) – via Zoom – to determine which of the bulleted activities below seems most interesting and valuable to the interns’ career path – be it in a marketing, a sponsorship and/or a humanitarian field.
A major, but immeasurable objective is to learn about Massachusetts Senior Games and the many wonderful people who are involved as volunteers and as competitors. It will be an excellent addition to a resume and to one’s personal & professional growth. Please go to our website <MASeniorGames.org> to see 22 different event pages. Also scroll towards the bottom of the MASG home page to see an old, but good video. It will likely help to increase your interest in this wonderful non-profit organization.
