The Science Department Lab Intern is an in-person position that can serve as an undergraduate fieldwork placement site. This position serves to support the day-to-day activities of the Science Technology & Engineering Department for providing all Science curricula, lab materials, inventory, and support for our teachers across our schools serving grades K-8. Our curriculum comes in a variety of formats for student accessibility with the mastery of standards-based content that is in alignment with the revised Massachusetts STE standards. This entails hands-on learning opportunities that involve Science & Engineering Practices. The Science Intern will be supervised by the Science Technology & Engineering Curriculum Coordinator, who has dual teaching certifications in Moderate Special Needs and Biology. We have partnerships with area post-secondary schools that include Tufts, Emmanuel, and Simmons.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ordering, stocking, packaging, dissemination of lab materials for grades K-8 to meet teacher requests & scheduling in a timely manner across multiple schools
Setting up of an organized, transparent process for the above items
Curriculum modifications (with guidance)
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS
It is preferred applicants be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program within science, education, or psychology.
Excellent planning, organizational, written/oral communication skills, punctuality, attendance, time management, and attention to details are required. The ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, creatively problem solve, and access resources are essential.
Proficiency in Word, Google Docs, and Excel spreadsheets.
Prior work & volunteer experience is helpful.

Position requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly.
Work requires close visual acuity.
SALARY, HOURS, AND PERKS
We do provide breakfast and lunch free of charge. There are opportunities for free trainings that have included such topics as CPR, 1st Aid, MATCH, Executive Functioning & CPI.

With additional onsite training and administrator approval the candidate can observe/support classroom settings.

This is a part-time position for the 2025-6 academic year. We are looking between 8-12 hours a week and can provide fieldwork placement credit.
