Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse, St. Luke’s Hospital

>> I guess my loves are, I love talking to people. If they're totally psych and feel horrible, it's nice to be able to hopefully make them feel better because [inaudible]. I love talking to patient's families. They're going through a hard time. Sometimes if it's a slow day, I make people milkshakes. That's a totally rare thing I do but so again, just one on one patient care is good and you know, to know that you helped them through hard times it's a good feeling to have. And to see them get better. I actually had a cancer patient and I'm not used to -- the old hospital I used to work in, we didn't really get people with cancer but the new hospital has a brand new cancer center. And I took care of this one man and he was not doing well. And he was young and it was kind of sad to see him go through what he was going through and he left the hospital. And everyone thought that, you know, he was -- he only had a couple more days and two weeks ago, he walked onto the floor. And it was awesome seeing him. It was really good. So that's a good thing, you know? I guess my downfalls for me, and there are a lot of downfalls in nursing but for me, myself, would be taking it home with me because I always go home and I think what did I do, what could I have done better. Oh I should've done that. Or oh I didn't tell the nurse, the other nurse, I did that. Or it's something -- if a bad outcome happens to a patient, I internalize it and you know, if I could learn to not do that, that would be a good thing but, you know, I think maybe with more time -- I've been a nurse for at least 5 years -- with time and all it'll get better, I think.
